Showcasing the diverse range of successful enterprises in the county, Powys Business Awards are organised by Mid Wales Manufacturing Group (MWMG) with support from sponsors. This year, there are nine categories.

The hunt is on to find the best companies, social enterprises and charities in Powys following the launch of the county’s annual business awards.

The first ever drive-in Powys Business Awards on the Newtown campus of NPTC Group of Colleges was declared a big success as the event was blessed with fine weather last Friday night. Organised by Mid Wales Manufacturing Group (MWMG), the awards were held outdoors as a health safety precaution because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The awards showcase business excellence across Powys and this attracted more entries than ever.

Young entrepreneur Aled Woosnam, whose businesses have continued to thrive despite the pandemic, collected the main accolade at the Powys Business Awards. Details of all the nights winners revealed.

As this is the first time that we have held a Drive in event we have received a number of questions from guests, which we address in this article.

The host for this years Powys Business Awards has been announced as Lisa Angharad, Lisa has been a TV presenter since 2011 starting her career co-hosting a comedy sketch show on the national TV channel S4C.

Despite a hiatus in 2020 the highly popular competition sees 21 businesses shortlisted for the different award categories in this year’s Powys Business Awards. Winners will be chosen following judging interviews which will take place over the summer months, winners will be announced at an awards dinner to be held on Friday October 8th in Newtown.

The Powys Business Awards, which began in 2009, were launched today (Wednesday, June 30) after being cancelled last year due to the Covid pandemic. This year sees a range of categories added to recognise the diverse mix of business sectors located within the County including Small Business Growth and Technology & Innovation.

Unfortunately we have taken the decision to cancel the Powys Business Awards in 2020 and will look to launch the 2021 competition in the spring. Details of the 2021 competition and event will be posted soon.

A Newtown-based groundworks and civil engineering business, which says its workforce is the cornerstone of its success, is the 2019 Powys Business of the Year.

Businesses from across the breadth of Powys are represented in the county’s premier business awards.  The highly popular competition sees 28 businesses shortlisted for 12 different award categories in this year’s Powys Business Awards. 

The host for the Powys Business Awards ceremony, which will be held in October, has been announced by organisers Mid Wales Manufacturing Group. ITV’s Coast & Country TV presenter Andrew Price is considered one of the UK’s leading authorities on the subject of Bushcraft and Wilderness living. 

Businesses in Powys are being urged not to delay to ensure their entries into the 2019 Powys Business Awards competition. The deadline for entries is Friday 12th July with applications able to be submitted online or via post.

The 2019 Powys Business Awards competition launched today at County Hall in Llandridndo Wells, sponsors, past finalists and judges were all in attendance to hear the unveiling of the categories for the 2019 competition.

A Hay-on-Wye company which specialises in providing outsourced packaging solutions to the pharmaceutical industry, has been named Powys Business of the Year.  PCI Pharma Services completed the double by also collecting the Outstanding Commitment to Training Award at the Powys Business Awards held at The Hafren, Newtown on Friday. A Hay-on-Wye company which specialises in providing outsourced packaging solutions to the pharmaceutical industry, completed a notable double at the Powys Business Awards.

The host for the Powys Business Awards ceremony being held on Friday, 28th September has been announced as  BBC Wales Today Presenter and former Aberystwyth University student Claire Summers.  She has been a familiar face on BBC Wales Today for more than a decade. She was, for many years, a news presenter before becoming the sports presenter on the programme. She has anchored coverage of London Olympics, the Ryder Cup and, most recently, Geraint Thomas's homecoming.
